




Please take the time to read the following story of a brave young woman and her horses –
My wife Tanya recently saw and advertisement requesting the services of a trainer who may be able to assist a person who was desperately trying to show jump and needed a hand, so replied to the advertisement. The following story is the result of what happened.
It turned out that this young woman, Candice Hilton, who lives with her husband Steve on the outskirts of Kyabram, Vic. on their small property along with 5 horses, a small terrier dog, a guide dog and a couple of house cats where they moved from the NT a couple of years ago has a tested eyesight in the range of 1/60. This range of sight allows her to only just recognize at distance of 50 cm what we as normal sighted folk can clearly see at 60 meters, so to say she is visually impaired would be understating the situation – this young lady is legally blind.
Along with her vision problem Candice also has little to no feeling in her lower
legs and none in her feet. Keeping her feet in stirrup irons poses a problem. She
needs to have her feet attached into the stirrup irons with break-
